process and production: Hayao Miyazaki from Studio Ghibli

Hayao Miyazaki has been an influence to many animators world wide, hes known for his animations at Studio Ghibli. he explained in an interview showed below that "if you want to create a realistic feel, you need to study from your surroundings" this really showed in all the animations he worked such as spirited away.

In this documentary about Hayao Miyazaki it show cases his life from the start and where he is now, there are many amazing animations which have made the people love his animations and has influenced many studios, one of the best qualities of the animations where the attention to details and compositions, the way they composed each scene made the story clear and easy to remember. without Hayao Miyazaki animations would be not at the level we are at.

process and production: end of project

At the end of the project i was able to complete my animation which i am very proud of. There were many things which needed to be fixed and cleaned up but the movement and volume of the character looked very nice and convincing, this was the final scene for the animation:
I really liked how it turned out and i wish i could of continued the animation but i was limited by time.

Process and Production: cel animation into digital animation

many animations started with traditional paper animations which then started to become more technically of the addition of cel animations which allowed scenes to have more then one layer to work with, Animations such as snow white were made using the cel method, here is an example :

this is how they created snow white, which was amazing back in that day. The methods of using cel animation had become very important in the animation industry and has improved over the years of producing loads of cel animations.

Over many years Animators decided to make better ways in order to make these layers do other things, such as special effects. coming towards the digital age many of the methods were made simpler using a PC, Animators developed a simple program in order to allow them to make animations without the use of using many layers traditionally, for example "flash" was a simple animation program that had everything you need in order to make an animation.

In the digital age we do not need a lot of equipment in order to create a complicated animation, which is less time consuming and it was easier to fix mistakes with the undo button which has helped many animators, but in order for all of this to work we are using the traditional methods that was implemented in these programs for us to use all the tools necessary. with the advance of technology many improvements have been made to make animations easier to create and not need to worry about stacks of traditional cel animations which can mess up.

Process and production: development stages

Ive finished animating many of the scenes and stared to compile them into after effects which is really handy and has helped me to produce some interesting effects which i hope will look good when fully compiled together, each scene has been fun to create and interesting to see how to compile different bits into after effects, for example scene three had many different events happening which contained a man walking out of the scene and the main male protagonist coming into the scene, i also had to think about the background which i split into a foreground and a background in order to make the background look out of focus and allow the character to be placed in between them as he was coming into the scene. I didnt know much about the program but I knew what I was doing because i tried picturing in my head how to create the scene, here is a screen shot of the scene WIP :

As you can see this is the turn out of this scene and works pretty well, i will be compiling everything into one video once i finish each scene.

Process and production: small group crit

I had a small group crit which i showcased what i have produced so far and this turned out well, and all i needed to do was just get on with the rest of the animation. which includes do each scene now since the backgrounds were finished, and conduct a few tests.
i will be testing out after effects for this animation since i want to learn how it works and how i could use it to my advantage to making the animation seem more interesting and professional, i hope the animation turns out well.
